Nina Park Design Competition 2023 “Pavilion for All”
Co-designed by Jason Lam and Steven Chung, we have envisioned a Pavilion Design for Nina Park that transforms the area into a tranquil sanctuary, offering shelter and serving as an eco-friendly hub for various activities. Our goal is to create an inclusive and flexible space with minimal ecological footprint, maximizing functionality while upholding sustainable practices.
Modular Construction
To optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness, we have incorporated modular construction into our design. The pavilion is composed of two distinct modules, strategically positioned at varying heights and orientations. This design choice creates a range of unique spatial experiences and shading effects, ensuring that the pavilion remains dynamic and adaptable.
Materials
Our choice of materials reflects our commitment to sustainability and aesthetics. To achieve the form of a funnel-like canopy, we have carefully selected lightweight and perforated materials. Fiber-Reinforced Polymers with a metallic finish give the inner surfaces of the modules a sleek and modern look. The outer rattan webbing not only enhances the aesthetics but brings an extra element of interest for visitors, creating a multisensory experience.
